Veidekke: Major asphalt contract for E10 in northern Norway

Veidekke: Major asphalt contract for E10 in northern Norway

Veidekke has entered into a contract with Skanska Norway to lay approximately

205,000 tonnes of asphalt on the new E10 Hålogalandsvegen, which is under

construction in Nordland and Troms. The value of the contract is NOK 264 million

excluding VAT.

"We are proud to have won the competition for what is one of the largest asphalt

contracts in Norway ever. The asphalt will be produced at our local plant in

Sigerfjord, and about half of the volume will contain recycled asphalt from the

old section on the E10. We really appreciate the confidence shown in us and are

looking forward to working with Skanska," says Martin Holmqvist, director of

Veidekke Asfalt.

Skanska is the general contractor on the project and has entered into a PPP

contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for the construction and

operation of 82 kilometres of road on the E10/national road 85 Tjeldsund -

Gullesfjordbotn - Langvassbukt section. Veidekke will lay asphalt on sections

two to seven on the western part of the project, more specifically on the E10

from the Sigerfjord tunnel to Fiskefjorden and from there on national road 85 to

north of Lødingen.

- Veidekke shows that they are able to meet our high demands for environmentally

sound solutions, which is the reason why the choice fell on them. It was also

important to have a supplier that satisfactorily meets the contract's

requirements for quality, and our needs for progress. I think Veidekke will do

that, and I look forward to the collaboration, says project director at Skanska,

Are Eliassen.

In 2024 it is estimated that 40-45,000 tons of asphalt will be laid, while the

remainder will be carried out in 2025-2027. The new road is scheduled to open at

the end of 2028.
