Veidekke: To build commercial buildings for CG Rieber Eiendom in Bergen

Veidekke has entered into an agreement with GC Rieber Eiendom to erect an

environmentally certified commercial building with Norconsult as the largest

tenant. The project is a collaborative design and build contract valued at NOK

241 million excluding VAT.

"We are very pleased to extend our good cooperation with GC Rieber Eiendom from

the construction of hotel Viken Brygge (Moxy Bergen) which will be the nearest

neighbour. The project has very high environmental ambitions, which of course is

what we prefer to build. We really appreciate the commission," says district

manager Thor Småbrekke of Veidekke Bygg Bergen.

The project is called Fenderen and is uniquely located on the waterfront in the

heart of Solheimsviken in Bergen. The building will be in solid wood and will

have three floors and a basement totalling approximately 7,800 m[2 ]with an

energy mix of solar cells, electricity, district heating and seawater. The

design and choice of material have been made to ensure sustainability throughout

the entire life of the building, from construction to the possibility of

remodelling and reusing building parts upon demolition, and the building will be

classified in accordance with the BREEAM Outstanding (Paris Proof) standard.

- Fenderen is the third solid wood building for GC Rieber Eiendom and is being

built in the innovation district in Solheimsviken. We see it as an important

part of our social mission to bring together actors from academia, service

providers, business clusters, public administration and start-ups, and create

good working conditions and meeting places for the employees, says managing

director Tor Instanes of CG Rieber Eiendom.

The start-up of the construction and groundworks is planned for May/June with
