Veidekke ASA: To build wind farm for Stena Renewable

Veidekke ASA: To build wind farm for Stena Renewable

Veidekke has been commissioned by Stena Renewable to build the foundations and

associated roads for 47 wind turbines in Tvinnesheda-Badeboda outside Åseda in

Småland, Sweden. The collaborative design and build contract has a value of

approx. SEK 265 million, and the project is scheduled to be completed in

December 2021.

"Veidekke has the required expertise and organisation to build as large a wind

farm as Vindpark Tvinnesheda. In recent years, Veidekke has built two wind farms

for us, and we are pleased to be able to realise yet another wind farm with

them," says Peter Zachrisson, CEO of Stena Renewable.

The contract comprises the construction of roads leading to every wind turbine

as well as the associated areas for cranes, storage of turbine wings, etc.

Veidekke will also complete the internal power grid, as well as do ground work

and cast foundations for the wind turbines.

"We appreciate being given the confidence of constructing this exciting project.

Being able to contribute to improving our environment by developing Swedish wind

power is important to us. Applying an interactive and involved way of working,

we plan to utilise everyone's knowledge to come up with the best solutions for

the project," says Anders Johansson, construction manager at Veidekke Civil

Engineering in Sweden.

Stena Renewable is investing SEK 2.2 billion in Vindpark Tvinnesheda, which will

provide the Uppvidinge Municipality with a total output of 210 MW. The project

has been realised through cooperation between wind power operators and the grid

owner E.ON, as well as a grid reinforcement loan from Svenska kraftnät, the

Swedish power transmission authority. All in all, 700 MW of new power generation

can be connected to the grid in this area, which currently has insufficient

power supply.
