Veidekke ASA: Wins record contract in Sweden

Veidekke ASA: Wins record contract in Sweden

Veidekke has signed a contract with Fabege to build new offices for SEB in

Arenastaden in Stockholm. This will be one largest Swedish office buildings ever

with a total floor area of 90,000 m(2) and 4,500 workplaces. The project will be

carried out as a turnkey project based on a collaboration model, and it is the

first of two stages that has been commissioned. The combined value of the

contract is approx. SEK 1.7 billion.

The office complex comprises three buildings connected with glass walkways.

Within the Veidekke Group there will be close cooperation between Veidekke Bygg

Stockholm, Norwegian Veidekke Entreprenør and Swedish subsidiary Arcona.

"The fact that Veidekke is being trusted to build SEB's new offices is partly

due to their presentation of an impressive team effort with expertise from the

entire Scandinavian area, and partly that we have great confidence in them based

on previous partnership projects," says project and development manager Klas

Holmgren of Fabege.

Planning cooperation has already started. The actual building will be brought

into use by tenant SEB in two stages and will be completely finished in 2018.

"We are very satisfied and proud that Fabege has confidence in us. This is a

challenge we approach with a great deal of humility. Our ambition is to further

reinforce our position in Sweden as one of the most inspiring players in the

sector. Confidence from Fabege is a major step in that direction, and it is all

facilitated through our Scandinavian partnership and collective experience with

complex projects. A clear example of our multi-local strategy," says group

director Per-Ingemar Persson of Veidekke Sverige.

The project will employ VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) to ensure the

close involvement between all parties in both planning and production. The

buildings will be environmentally smart and focus on low energy consumption and

sustainable materials, and will be certified in accordance with the BREEAM

Excellence standard.
