Veidekke ASA: Jimmy Bengtsson new head of Veidekke in Sweden
Veidekke ASA: Jimmy Bengtsson new head of Veidekke in Sweden
Jimmy Bengtsson (49) has been appointed new Executive Vice President and
Managing Director of Veidekke's combined operations in Sweden. Bengtsson comes
from the position of CEO of Veidekke's subsidiary Arcona AB in Stockholm, and
will replace Per-Ingemar Persson from the new year, who in turn will take up an
advisory function for Veidekke's CEO and President.
Jimmy Bengtsson currently heads contractor Arcona AB in Stockholm, which was
acquired by Veidekke in 2013. "I am very pleased that we have upheld Veidekke's
tradition of finding an internal candidate for one of our executive positions.
Jimmy has extensive and sound experience from the contracting sector in Sweden,
most recently as a part of Veidekke where he has made a strong contribution to
our growth in the Stockholm area. He is a warm and engaged individual who is
committed Veidekke's values, involvement as a work method and our emphasis on
HSE work," says CEO and President Arne Giske.
Bengtsson is a graduate engineer from the Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm, and spent 16 years with Skanska. He has held the position of Managing
Director of Arcona since 2007. "I am both proud and pleased with being handed
the confidence to head Veidekke's operations in Sweden. We already are in a very
good position in the industry, and I look forward to developing Veidekke's
strength through involving partnerships with colleagues, partners and customers
here in Sweden," Bengtsson says.
In January Per-Ingemar Persson is stepping down after 10 years as Executive Vice
President and Managing Director of Veidekke's Swedish operations. "During Per-
Ingemar's tenure revenue has grown from one to eight billion Swedish kroner, and
we have a strong position in building, construction and residential development.
Per-Ingemar has been a forceful leader and has played a pivotal role in the
development of a strong Veidekke in Sweden," Arne Giske says. The departing head
of Sweden confirms that times have been exciting. "I am proud to have been a
part of Veidekke over these years and of what we have achieved, and I am certain
that Jimmy Bengtsson is the best choice to steer the course going forward in
Sweden," Persson concludes.
