Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a large order for its heavy civil infrastructure business from Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) for package-4 of the new broad-gauge line between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag in Uttarakhand.

In value terms, a large order is one that is between ~2,500 crore and ~5,000 crore. However, the exact value of this order is not known.

The scope of the project includes construction of tunnels, formation, construction of shaft, and other ancillary works between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag.

The project involves construction of the 14.577 km upline and 13.123 km downline tunnel with embankments of around 800 metres at both ends.

Of the 14.577 km and 13.123 km of tunnel, 10.49 km and 10.317 km will be excavated using two new hard rock tunnel boring machines

of diameter 9.1 me-tres. The remaining will be done using the New Austrian Tunnel Method. The scope also includes construction of an ellipsoidalcum-ventilation shaft in the finished cross -section of 79 square metres and depth of 32 metres.

This will be the biggest TBM to be deployed in the Himalayan region in India.

L&T bags up to ~5,000-crore order from RVNL

Walmart-backed PhonePe has emerged the top unified payments interface (UPI) application (app) in December, with 902.03 million transactions accounting for ~1.82 trillion, followed by Google Pay with 854.49 million transactions worth ~1.76 trillion, thus, controlling the lion's share of the UPI market, according to the data by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Google Pay has seen 11 per cent fall in transaction volume in December, compared to November. In November, Google Pay had seen 960.02 million transactions accounting for ~1.61 trillion, followed by PhonePe, with 868.4 million transactions worth ~1.75 trillion.

According to the October data, Google Pay accounted for 857.81 million transactions, while PhonePe came in second, with 839.88 million transactions.

These top two apps account for more than 78 per cent of the UPI market in terms of volume of transaction, and 86 actions in December.

In November, these two apps had more than 82 per cent of the market by volume and more than 86 per cent by value. Paytm Payments Bank app is behind

In November, UPI had recorded 2.21 billion transactions worth ~3.9 trillion, and had clocked ~3.86 trillion of payments in October, which is when it had surpassed 2 billion transactions for the first time.

It is all that is left of a programme, funded by some of the world's biggest oil and chemical companies, that they said could solve a runaway ocean plastic waste crisis which is killing marine life — from plankton to whales — and clogging tropical

beaches and coral reefs. The closure of Renew Oceans, which has not previously been reported, is a sign that an industry whose financial future is tied to the growth of plastic production is falling short of its targets to curb the resulting increase in waste, according to two environmental groups.

The Alliance to End Plastic Waste, a Singapore-based nonprofit group set up two years ago by big oil and chemical firms, said on its website in November 2019 that its partnership with Renew Oceans would be expanded to the world's mostpolluted rivers and "ultimately could stop the flow of plastic into the planet's ocean."

Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, Dow, Chevron Phillips Chemical, and about 50 other firms committed to spend $1.5 billion over five years on the Alliance and its projects. The Alliance has not said publicly how much money it has raised or what it has spent overall.

'औरंगाबाद जिल्ह्यातील ६१६ ग्रामपंचायतीमध्ये शिवसेनेने ३६० ग्रामपंचायतीमध्ये स्वबळावर यश मिळविले असून ७२ ठिकाणी महाविकास आघाडीचे वर्चस्व मिळेल असा दावा शिवसेना आमदार व जिल्हा प्रमुख अंबादास दानवे यांनी केला असून आतापर्यंत २८७ ग्रामपंचायतीवर शिवसेनेचे वर्चस्व होते. त्यात मोठी वाढ झाली आहे.

आवरण्यासाठी पोलिसांनी सौम्य लाठीमार केला. लातूर जिल्ह्यातील बाभुळगाव येथील मतदारसंघात काँग्रेसला यश मिळाले. शिवाजीराव कव्हेकर यांच्या समर्थकांनी कव्हा ग्रामपंचायत राखली. परळी मतदारसंघातील ग्रामपंचायतीमध्ये धनंजय मंडे यांच्या समर्थकांनी यश मिळविले.

आष्टी तालूक्यात सुरेशी धस यांच्या समर्थकांना यश मिळाले. महाविकास आघाडीचे वर्चस्व असेच चित्र मतमोजणीनंतर दिसत आहे. करोनाचे सावट असले तरी त्याचा निवडणुकीच्या प्रचारादरम्यान कोठेही परिणाम दिसून आला नाही. मतमोजणी दरम्यान सामाजिक अंतर नियम तर पायदळीच तुडविण्यात आले.

मराठवाड्यात परभणी, बीड आणि लातूर जिल्ह्यात बर्ड फ्लू आजाराचा संसर्ग आढळून आल्याने चिकन खाण्याचे प्रमाण घटले आहे.

पाटोद्यातील निकालाचे आश्चर्य

स्वच्छ आणि शुद्ध पाणी पुरवठा, सौरऊर्जा, प्रत्येक गल्लीमध्ये हात ध्रुण्यासाठी बेसीन, मोफत पिठाची चक्की, शेतीच्या कामासाठी ग्रामपंचायतीचे ट्रॅक्टर असे अनेक उपक्रम राबविणारे पाटोढ़ा येथील सरपंच भास्कर पेरे यांनी निवडणुकीतून माघार घेतली होती. त्यांच्या मुलीस त्यांनी निवडणुकीमध्ये उतरविले होते. पण त्यांचा पराभव झाल्याचे मंतमोजणीनंतर स्पष्ट झाले. या निकालाचे सर्वत्र आश्चर्य व्यक्त होत आहे या निकालाच्या अनुषंगाने बोलताना आदर्श गाव निर्माण करणारे भास्कर पेरे म्हणाले, 'या निकालाचे समाजाने चिंतन करावे. विकास केल्याने मत मिळते काय, असा प्रश्न पुन्हा अधोरेखित करावा लागतो आहे.

औरंगाबाढ़ेत ग्रामपंचायतीचे निकाल घोषित होत असल्याच्या ठिकाणी सहाञ्चेपेक्षा अधिक उमेढवार आणि त्यांचे समर्थक सकाळपासून दाखल होत होते. दोन-चार हजारांच्या संख्येने असलेल्या जमावाला दिसेल अशा ठिकाणी गंगापूरमधील भाऊसाहेब काळे हे विविध पुस्तके विक्रीसाठी घेऊँन बसले होते. त्यात ग्रामपंचायत अधिनियम, ग्रामपंचायतची मार्गदर्शिका, राबवण्यात येणाऱ्या विविध योजनांची माहिती सांगणारी पुस्तकेही होती. मात्र, त्यातील काही मोजक्याच विजयी सद्स्यांनी पुस्तकांची खरेदी केली. असे काळे यांनी सांगितले.

मतमोजणीमध्ये काही ठिकाणी प्रस्थापितांना धक्का मिळाला तर अनेक नव्या चेहऱ्यांना गाव कारभारी होण्याची संधी मिळाली असल्याचे मतमोजणीनंतर स्पष्ट झाले. सरपंच पदाचे आरक्षण जाहीर झाल्यानंतर त्या पदाची जुळवाजुळव करण्याची समीकरणे गावोगाव आकाराला येणार आहेत.

जिल्ह्यातील ५६६ ग्रामपंचायतीसाठी निवडणूक कार्यक्रम घोषित करण्यात आला होता. त्यापैकी ६८ ग्रामपंचायती बिनविरोध झाल्याने प्रत्यक्ष ४९८ ग्रामपंचायतीत १ हजार ५७३ वॉर्डात निवडणूक झाली. सोमवारी पार पडलेल्या मतमोजणीमध्ये काही ठिकाणी प्रस्थापितांना धक्का मिळाला तर अनेक नव्या चेहऱ्यांना गाव कारभारी होण्याची संधी मिळाली आहे. जिल्ह्यातील सर्वात मोठ्या बोरी या ग्रामपंचायतीवर राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेस पक्षाचे नेते तथा जिल्हा परिषदे जागा पटकावून निर्विवाद वर्चस्व राखले आहे. या ग्रामपंचायतीत माजी आमदार विजय भांबळे यांच्या नेतत्वाखाली चौधरी यांच्या पॅनल विरोधात डॉ.विद्या चौधरी यांच्या पॅनलला अवघ्या तीन जागा मिळाल्या. जिल्ह्यात जिंतूर तालुक्यात बहुसंख्य ग्रामपंचायतीमध्ये आमदार मेघना बोर्डीकर व माजी आमदार विजय भांबळे यांच्या समर्थकांमध्ये कडवी लढत पाहायला मिळाली. जिंतूर तालूक्यातील १०१ पैकी ७४ ग्रामपंचायतीवर वर्चस्व मिळवण्याचा दावा बोर्डीकर गटाने केला आहे.

परभणी तालुक्यातील सर्वात मोठ्या झरी या ग्रामपंचायतीत शिवसेनेचे नेते गजाननराव देशमुख व डॉ.प्रमोदराव देशमुख यांच्या नेतृत्वाखालील जनसेवा पॅनलने १७ पैको १० जागा पटकावून निर्विवाद वर्चस्व मिळविले आहे.

राजेनिंबाळकर यांचे गाव असलेल्या गोवर्धनवाडी ग्रामपंचायत निवडणुकीत नऊपैकी सहा जागा ठेवण्यात आपल्या ताब्यात शिवसेनेला यश आले आहे. कळंबचे आमदार कैलास पाटील यांचे मूळ गाव असलेल्या देव धानोरा येथेही सेनेला मोठे यश मिळाले आहे.

हिंगोलीत संमिश्र कौल हिंगोली : जिल्ह्यात ग्रामपंचायत निवडणुकीत संमिश्र कौल मिळाला. राज्यमंत्री अब्दुल सत्तार यांच्या गटाचा | दारुण पराभव झाला. खानापूर चित्ता ग्रामपंचायतीवर त्यांचा भगवा फडकला. बळसोंड ग्रामपंचायत मध्ये | शिवसेनेच्या सर्वचे सर्व तेरा उमेदवार पराभुत झाले आहेत. तर आखाडा बाळापूर येथे चार जागांवर समाधान मानावे लागले. जिल्ह्यातील ४९५ पैकी ७३ ग्रामपंचायती बिनविरोध निवडल्या गेल्या. तर ४२२ ग्रामपंचायतीसाठी तब्बल ८२ टक्के मतदान झाले होते. तर या वेळी शिवसेनेचे राज्यमंत्री अब्दुल सत्तार यांनी बळसोंड, खानापुरचित्ता, आखाडा बाळापूर येथे प्रचार सभा घेतल्या होत्या.
