On 12 December 2007, the HI Varengold CTA Hedge Fund managed by Varengold
Wertpapierhandelsbank AG has been awarded 'Germany’s 1st Annual Hedge Fund
Award' as Germany’s best fund of funds in Frankfurt.
The prize is awarded by I.B.C. Consulting for Institutional Banks.

The evaluation standard for the award is the Adjusted Sharpe Ratio. This
index considers the missing normal distribution and occurring automatic
correlations in hedge fund revenues. Further important evaluation standards
are correlations with the revenues of other asset classes as well as
different downside risk measures. In the award, also certain qualitative
characteristics play a role.

Varengold Wertpapierhandelsbank AG is the only German investment bank
having focussed on the area of alternative investments for more than 10
years. Since its foundation in 1995, the investment bank lead by its owner
has been working in the asset management with alternative investments in
the form of hedge funds and managed futures as well as in the brokerage in
derivatives, predominantly in Forex and CFDs, as trend-setting pioneer.
Here, it has been drawing up plans focussing on product solutions for
unengaged financial service providers and institutional investors.
Since 20 March 2007, the Varengold share has been listed in the open market
of the German stock exchange in Frankfurt.
