Uscom US CPT Code and Reimbursement Update

SYDNEY, Australia, Friday 20th November 2015: Uscom Limited (ASX code: UCM) (the Company or Uscom ), a cardiovascular and pulmonary medical devices company, today released to the market an update of the status of US CPT Code coverage and global reimbursement activities as related to the international Uscom product suites.

Uscom devices are being purchased worldwide because of their benefits to patient care. Obtaining reimbursement, the payment of physicians for the use of our technology, is an integral and routine part of Uscom operations and market development. To date all Uscom sales have been without support from US CPT Code reimbursement, while all new codes, outlined below, will contribute to future revenue growth as our new products are released to market in 2016.

The US CPT Code system is a complex process of review and pricing of medical services delivered by US physicians within the US and is linked to a fee schedule to enable clinicians to be reimbursed for usage of technologies. The reimbursed value is related to the sophistication, utility and cost of the technology. Uscom is currently selling the USCOM 1A into the US, and is preparing the Uscom BP+ and Thor suite of spirometers for release into the US market early in 2016. All Uscom devices have US FDA clearance and are either covered by current CPT Codes or under evaluation by the American Medical Association (AMA) Editorial Committee.

Advice from the Uscom US CPT Code consultants indicate the Uscom BP+, with software updates and an accompanying notification to the US FDA, will be eligible under the 93050 central blood pressure code for a $17.91 US reimbursement. As the Uscom BP+ will retail in the US for approximately $3,000 US, this code pricing supports a very competitive business model for clinicians purchasing the Uscom BP+, as competing devices range in price from $5,000 US to $20,000 US.

The Uscom range of digital spirometers are already covered by US CPT Codes 94010, 94060 and 94375 and priced at $36, $61, and $40 US per measure respectively. The Uscom Thor spirometer has recently been FDA cleared and will retail in the US for approximately $2,000 US.

The USCOM 1A is currently being evaluated by the US AMA CPT Editorial Committee for consideration of granting a CPT Code. Uscom CEO, Associate Professor Rob Phillips, presented to the Committee in Philadelphia on October 10[th] 2015, and discussions are continuing. The current submission seeks inclusion of the USCOM 1A service under the existing code for unlisted ultrasound services no 76999 valued at $76 US per service.

The USCOM 1A is also currently under review for funding in Australian by the Health and Technology Assessment Team from the Medical Benefits Division of the Australian Department of Health. The USCOM 1A has been a reimbursed medical technology in China for nearly 3 years and draws a benefit of approximately $57 AUD per measure.

Executive Chairman of Uscom, Associate Professor Rob Phillips said, “There are at least 12 reimbursement codes worldwide, including 6 US CPT Codes under which Uscom products are covered. We are actively working with reimbursement consultants worldwide to develop the business cases supporting the use of our products, and new applications are continually in preparation; this is a routine part of our business. Stephen Wilson, previously VP Corporate Development for Welch Allyn, and now Uscom US VP Business Development, has over 10 years experience with US reimbursement pathways, and is leading our global strategy. While reimbursement is an important objective for Uscom to further strengthen our business and increase sales, all our current growth has come without US CPT Code reimbursement. As BP+ and the Thor spirometers are released to

About Uscom

Uscom Limited (UCM) is an ASX listed innovative medical technology company specialising in development and marketing of premium cardiovascular and pulmonary medical devices. Uscom has three practice leading suites of devices in the field of cardiac, vascular and pulmonary monitoring; the USCOM 1A, Uscom BP+ and the Uscom Thor Spirometers. All Uscom devices are premium quality, and deploy innovative and practice leading technologies with FDA, CE and TGA regulatory approval, and which are currently being marketed into global distribution networks.

The USCOM 1A is a simple to use, cost-effective and non-invasive advanced haemodynamic monitor that measures cardiovascular function, detects irregularities and is used to guide treatment. The USCOM 1A device has major applications in Paediatrics, Emergency, Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia, and is the device of choice for management of adult and paediatric sepsis, hypertension, heart failure and for the guidance of fluid, inotrope and vasoactive cardiovascular therapy.

The Uscom BP+ is a supra systolic oscillometric Central Blood Pressure monitor which measures blood pressure and blood pressure waveforms only previously available using cardiac catheterisation. The Uscom BP+ replaces conventional and more widespread sub systolic blood pressure monitors, and is the emerging standard of care measurement in hypertension, heart failure and vascular health. The Uscom BP+ provides a highly accurate and repeatable measurement of central and brachial blood pressure and pulse pressure waveforms using a familiar upper arm cuff. The BP+ is simple to use and requires no complex training with applications in hypertension, heart failure, intensive care, general practice and home care.

Uscom Thor spirometers are high fidelity, digital, pulmonary function testing devices based on multi path ultrasound technology. They are simple and accurate to use and provide advanced pulmonary function testing in small hand held devices that can be used in research, clinical and home care environments. The devices are specialised for assessment of COPD, sleep disordered breathing, asthma and monitoring pulmonary therapeutic compliance.
