UPM has received a notice from Metsäliitto on the use of a call option

UPM-Kymmene Corporation Stock exchange release 17 April 2012 at 17:30

UPM has today received a notice from Metsäliitto Cooperative (”Metsäliitto”) on
the use of a call option. According to the notice, Metsäliitto purchases UPM's
11% share in Metsä Fibre Oy (formerly Oy Metsä-Botnia Ab) for 150 million
euros. UPM is currently investigating whether Metsäliitto's notice complies
with the agreement between the parties concerning the matter.
