Item 8.01 Other Events.

On February 27, 2018, Unum Group (the “Company”) announced that Puneet Bhasin, formerly Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations for Waste Management, Inc., has been appointed Chief Information and Digital Officer for the Company effective March 8, 2018. A copy of the news release issued by the Company on February 27, 2018 announcing Mr. Bhasin's appointment is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
