Preliminary Annual Results 2008

United Labels AG doubles annual profit

• Group revenue up 2.3% to EUR 44.2 million
• Profit for the financial year stands at EUR 0.8 million
• Management Board proposes dividend payment of EUR 0.20 per share

Münster, March 3, 2009 - Based on preliminary figures, United Labels AG
(ISIN: DE 0005489561), an enterprise specialising in comicware sold under
licence, increased its consolidated revenue by 2.3% to EUR 44.2 million in
the 2008 financial year (FY 2007: EUR 43.2 million). Profit for the
financial year doubled to EUR 0.8 million (FY 2007: EUR 0.4 million). EBIT
amounted to EUR 0.6 million (FY 2007: EUR 1.3 million).
Revenue growth was driven mainly by the expansion of subsidiary company
House of Trends europe GmbH. Focusing on large-account business, the latter
generated revenue of EUR 3.9 million in its first full financial year.
Alongside the operating results of the individual entities, consolidated
annual profit was dominated by the capitalisation of deferred taxes as well
as by income from an investment in Groupe Montesquieu, in which a 35%
interest was acquired during the financial year just ended.

Earnings per share for 2008 stood at EUR 0.19 (FY 2007: EUR 0.10).

In view of this performance, the Management Board will be proposing a
dividend payment of EUR 0.20 per share, which is in line with the dividend
paid in previous years.

Against the backdrop of a challenging consumer climate and despite a
tentative fourth quarter, the company plans to increase both its revenues
and earnings over the course of the current 2009 financial year.

The audited financial statements for the financial year just ended will be
published as part of the annual results press conference to be held in
Münster/Germany on March 25, 2009.
