This was accomplished despite the continuing difficulties experienced by the retail sector as a whole. In the third quarter, profit from ordinary activities amounted to EUR 237 thousand. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) was EUR 348 thousand, while net profit for the quarter stood at EUR 228 thousand. As a result, revenues generated in the first three quarters of 2003 increased by 8.5% year on year to EUR 25.3 million. EBIT for this period stands at EUR 99 thousand (same period last year: EUR 60 thousand). The net loss for the first nine months was reduced from EUR 451 thousand to EUR 224 thousand (same period last year: EUR 310 thousand). In view of the 22.8% increase in the volume of orders in hand, which are currently worth EUR 9.7 million (same period last year: EUR 7.9 million) as well as the favourable progression of business in the preceding quarters, UNITEDLABELS AG is expected to continue to perform positively in the coming quarters. The new brands were also showcased at major international designer trade fairs abroad – with great success. Exceeding company expectations, UNITEDLABELS attracted sales partners in a number of countries, including Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Austria, Spain, China, Denmark, Italy, and Finland.
