Fiscal 2001 proved to be a good year for the United Internet Group. Consolidated sales of United Internet leapt by over 18 percent to EUR 230.7 million in fiscal 2001. A total of EUR 196.0 million (85 %) of consolidated sales originated from subsidiaries posting positive EBT figures for the past year. There was also strong growth in EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), which rose from EUR 0.1 million in 2000 to EUR 23.8 million in fiscal 2001. Due to depreciation and amortization of tangible, intangible and financial assets amounting to EUR 60.9 million, consolidated pre- tax earnings (EBT) of the United Internet Group amounted to EUR -42.6 million. The Group’s depreciation allowances include write-downs on financial assets made on September 30, 2001 amounting to EUR 23.6 million. Goodwill write-downs of the majority holdings totaled EUR 17.5 million. Earnings per share amount to EUR -0.63 (2000: EUR -0.87).
