UNITIRRENO CONTINUES IN THE CREATION OF THE SUBMARINE FIBER OPTIC DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE
A € 57 MILLION FINANCING AGREEMENT ISSUED BY INTESA SANPAOLO AND BANCO BPM
Roma, 19 February 2025 – Unidata S.p.A. (UD.MI), operator of telecommunications, cloud and IoT services, listed on Euronext Milan – STAR Segment, organized and managed by Borsa Italiana S.p.A., announces that Unitirreno - joint venture established by Unidata S.p.A. and the Infrastructure Fund for ESG Growth (IPC) managed by Azimut Libera Impresa SGR S.p.A. - signed a financing contract with Intesa Sanpaolo, also as Agent Bank, and Banco BPM for an amount of € 57 million and a duration of 4 years, divided into three lines: a capex line of € 50 million, guaranteed 50% by SACE through "Archimede Guarantee", a DSRF (Debt Service Reserve Facility) line of € 5 million and a VAT line of € 2 million.
The investment is intended for the construction of a submarine fiber optic infrastructure, which will connect Mazara del Vallo to Genoa, with a hub near Rome-Fiumicino and one in Olbia. The project, also supported by equity contributions from the UNIDATA Group and the ESG Infrastructure Fund (IPC) managed by Azimut Libera Impresa SGR S.p.A., represents the first Open Cable system with 24 pairs of optical fibers in the Mediterranean, which will extend for 1,030 kilometres, to meet the ever-increasing broadband needs at both a national and international level.
