UniCredit appoints Wouter Devriendt Head of Finance & Control

The board of directors of UniCredit today announced the appointment of Wouter Devriendt as Head of Finance & Control. Mr Devriendt is currently Chief Executive Officer of Dexia (Brussels) and of Dexia Crédit Local (Paris), which he joined in 2016. He will be taking up his role at UniCredit in early 2020 and will be reporting directly to the Group CEO, Jean Pierre Mustier.

The new Finance & Control function was created earlier in 2019 as part of a wider organisational review and has temporarily been headed by the Group CEO. It is an extended function which, in addition to the usual Finance & Planning, Accounting and IR activities, also incorporates Group Identity and Communication, Regulatory and Institutional Affairs, Strategy and M&A and Chief Lending Officer department. It also functionally coordinates the activities of the Group Risk Management department, Legal and Compliance, which continue to report to the CEO. This innovative set up allows for closer alignment of the competence lines and provides more scope for cooperation.

Biography

Wouter Devriendt holds an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management (1992) as well as a Master's degree in applied economics from the Catholic University of Louvain (KU Leuven) in Belgium (1989). He has broad experience in the financial sector from business development to organisational transformation coupled with a truly global professional track record, effective stakeholder management and an extensive network across regulatory, banking and advisory communities.

Between 1993 and 2011, he gained extensive international experience with ABN AMRO (Amsterdam, London, Prague, Houston, Ecuador and Sydney) and Fortis (Brussels and Amsterdam). From 2011 to 2016, he primarily acted as an independent adviser to the Belgian Federal Holding and Investment Company, where he was responsible for the management of the Belgian State's investments in the financial sector. From 2012 to 2016, Wouter was a member of the Board of Directors of Belfius and from 2013 to 2016, he was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amsterdam Trade Bank. From 2014 to 2016, he was a member of the General Council of the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund which aims to contribute to the stability of the Greek banking system. Since May 2016, he has been Chief Executive Officer of Dexia (Brussels) and of Dexia Crédit Local (Paris).

UniCredit nomina Wouter Devriendt nuovo responsabile della funzione Finanza e Controllo

Il Consiglio di amministrazione di UniCredit ha annunciato oggi la nomina di Wouter Devriendt come Responsabile della funzione Finanza e Controllo del Gruppo. Devriendt è attualmente Chief Executive Officer di Dexia (Brussels) e di Dexia Crédit Local (Paris), dove è entrato nel 2016. Assumerà il suo ruolo in UniCredit all'inizio del 2020 e riporterà direttamente al CEO del Gruppo, Jean Pierre Mustier.

La nuova funzione Finanza e Controllo è stata creata all'inizio del 2019 nell'ambito di una più ampia riorganizzazione ed è stata temporaneamente guidata dal CEO del Gruppo. È una funzione estesa che, oltre alle tradizionali attività di Finanza, Pianificazione, Contabilità e Investor Relations, include anche Group Identity e Communication, Regulatory and Institutional Affairs, Strategy and M&A e l'area del Chief Lending Officer. Inoltre coordina le attività dell'area di Group Risk Management, Legal e Compliance, che continuano a essere a riporto del CEO di Gruppo. Questa struttura innovativa consente un maggiore allineamento fra i dipartimenti aumentando le possibilità di cooperazione.

Biografia

Wouter Devriendt ha conseguito un MBA presso la Rotterdam School of Management (1992) e un master in economia applicata presso l'Università Cattolica di Lovanio (KU Leuven) in Belgio (1989). Ha una vasta esperienza nel settore finanziario, dallo sviluppo del business alla trasformazione organizzativa, uniti a un percorso professionale globale, un'efficace gestione degli stakeholders e un ampio network tra gli interlocutori degli organismi regolatori, bancari e di sorveglianza.

Tra il 1993 e il 2011 ha maturato una vasta esperienza internazionale con ABN AMRO (Amsterdam, Londra, Praga, Houston, Ecuador e Sydney) e Fortis (Bruxelles e Amsterdam). Dal 2011 al 2016 è stato consigliere indipendente della Belgian Federal Holding and Investment Company, dove è stato responsabile della gestione degli investimenti dello Stato belga nel settore finanziario. Dal 2012 al 2016, Wouter è stato membro del Consiglio di amministrazione di Belfius e dal 2013 al 2016 è stato anche Presidente del Consiglio di amministrazione di Amsterdam Trade Bank. Dal 2014 al 2016 è stato membro del Consiglio Generale del Fondo di stabilità finanziaria ellenica che mira a contribuire alla stabilità del sistema bancario greco. Da maggio 2016 è Amministratore delegato di Dexia (Bruxelles) e di Dexia Crédit Local (Parigi).
