Xtend is one of Malaysia’s largest and most trusted security organizations offering comprehensive lines of security services, secure and reliable cutting-edge monitoring technologies, and cost efficient business security solutions. The company is partially owned by Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) or the Malaysian Armed Forces Fund.
Xtend’s AVM System devices currently track vehicles, freight systems and automobiles and utilize both GSM and GPS technologies to ensure wide territorial coverage and more accurate and faster locating performance. The AVM System also incorporates added intelligent features including a vehicle immobilizer that can be remotely activated, in-built alarm system to prevent breach or theft and a panic button for assistance. The AVM System operates with integrated on-board vehicle cameras to confirm a robbery and also utilizes strategically placed micro-sensors to detect a robbery violation. The AVM System provides in essence, complete detection, protection and control over potential hi-jack activity of high value goods and cargo transit.
TZ’s SMArt Locking Devices will replace existing power hungry solenoid locking mechanisms to offer improved access control and monitoring with a compact design and ultra-low power consumption.
Xtend’s executive director, Francis Seaw said “We have been at the forefront of the security arena for over 10 years by being a leading edge and innovative multisolutions provider. TZ’s technology is state-of-the-art and delivers a capability that amounts to true decentralized intelligence that significantly enhances what we can provide to our customers.”
“We will initially retrofit BAT’s goods vans with TZ SMArt Locking Devices and systematically roll this out across BAT’s broader goods distribution providers. We will also leverage established opportunities to deploy this solution with DHL and other major freight and logistics providers. We also intend to expand this service into other Asian markets.”
“We will also be pursuing opportunities to take this solution into cargo and container security and protection solutions for BAT in Malaysia and in other Asia Pacific markets where they operate.” added Mr. Seaw.
Under the agreement between TZI and Xtend, Xtend will purchase an initial 500 TZ Radial devices to support the immediate deployment with BAT as part of an existing service contract between BAT and Xtend. The TZI agreement has been structured with an upfront hardware purchase price coupled with an on-going monthly device access license equivalent to 15% of the monitoring service fee which Xtend charges their customers for each deployment for the life of the monitoring service contract (typically 3 – 5 years).

The typical monitoring service charge per each deployment ranges from US$90 to US$140 per month depending on the services offered.
The deployment with BAT in Malaysia, if deployed across all 630 vehicles, is estimated to worth US$430,000 to TZ over the current monitoring contract life of 3 years.
TZI will develop specific protocol to enable TZ SMArt devices to communicate with Xtend’s networking and communications hardware which will enable a common integrated platform across Xtend’s range of security applications.
“We are pleased to take our first steps in delivering a commercial solution for the Asian market and we see Xtend as an ideal partner with complimentary capability and hardware and software solutions that will enable deployment of our systems across several identified areas of commercial opportunity,” said John Wilson, CEO of TZI.
