NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE EIS SUPPLEMENT FOR TNG’S DARWIN TIVAN® PROCESSING FACILITY
Supplement to the Draft EIS will be available for public comment from 26 March 2021 to 19 April 2021
Australian resource and mineral processing technology company TNG Limited (ASX: TNG) ("TNG" or the “Company”) is pleased to advise that the Supplement to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (“Supplement”) for its TIVAN® Processing Facility in Darwin (“DPF”) will be available for public comment from Friday, 26 March 2021.
The DPF is proposed to be located at 658 Channel Island Road, Weddell; within the Middle Arm Industrial Precinct, approximately 15km southeast of Darwin. TNG will treat magnetite concentrate from the Mount Peake mine site using its patented TIVAN® process, which will enable the extraction and production of three high-value strategic products – titanium dioxide, vanadium pentoxide and iron oxide – for export to customers globally from Darwin.
The DPF requires assessment under the Northern Territory Environmental Assessment Act 1982 with transitional provisions under the Environment Protection Act 2019 (EP Act), and is a controlled action under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The relevant controlling provisions under the EPBC Act are: Listed threatened species and communities (sections 18 & 18A); and, Listed migratory species (sections 20 & 20A).
The Supplement of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement was recently submitted to the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (“NT EPA”) (see ASX Announcement dated 1 February 2021) and will be available for public comment for 15 business days from Friday, 26 March 2021.
PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD – The Supplement can be viewed electronically at TNG’s website (www.tngltd.com.au) and at the NT EPA website (www.ntepa.nt.gov.au/consultation/open-consultations). Hard copies of the Supplement are also available for viewing from Friday, 26 March 2021 to Monday, 19 April 2021, at the following locations:
