Australian resources company TNG Limited (ASX: TNG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jianrong Xu as Chairman of the company.

The appointment follows the recent completion of a $13.4 million transaction with two strategic Chinese companies, the Jiangsu Eastern China Non-Ferrous Metals Investment Holding Co. Ltd (“ECE”) subsidiary Ao-Zhong International Mineral Resources Pty Ltd (“Ao-Zhong”), and a privately owned Chinese industrial and high-technology company, Aosu Investment and Development Co Pty Ltd (“Aosu”), which has provided a significant cornerstone investment into the company.

As a result, TNG has total cash resources of $11 million, putting it in a strong position to pursue to the continued evaluation and development of its Mount Peake Iron-Vanadium Titanium Project in the Northern Territory and copper projects.

Mr Xu, who initially joined the TNG Board as a non-executive Director in May following completion of the ECE transaction, has been Deputy Director-General of the East China Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau (ECMED) since January 2007.

Mr Xu is the current Deputy Managing Director of the Jiangsu Geophysical Society, the Chairman of HK ECE, Hong Kong East China Non-Ferrous International Mineral Development Co Ltd, Namibia East China Non-ferrous Investment Pty Ltd and other ECMED wholly-owned subsidiaries.

TNG’s Managing Director, Mr Paul Burton, welcomed Mr Xu’s appointment on behalf of the Board, saying it supported TNG’s strategic direction and future growth plans for the company.

ECE is a subsidiary of the East China Mineral Exploration & Development Bureau, which is a major Chinese mineral exploration, development and mining group, based in Nanjing that has been set up since 1955. It has over 5,000 employees and is one of the few organisations authorised by the Chinese Government to carry out geological exploration and scientific research in major State classified projects.
