The Warehouse Group announces new Director appointment

The Warehouse Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Taulelei as a Non-Executive Director of The Warehouse Group Limited.

Ms Taulelei, who joins The Warehouse Group Board effective immediately, is CEO of Kono. An associated business of Wakatū Incorporation, Kono NZ is a vertically integrated, family-owned Māori food and beverage producer and exporter of award-winning wine, cider, craft beer, seafood, fruit and natural fruit bars.

Ms Taulelei presently chairs New Zealand’s APEC Business Advisory Council, and her career includes being a former US Trade Commissioner, founder of sustainable seafood company Yellow Brick Road Limited and a member of the Prime Minister’s Business Advisory Council. Her governance experience includes Moana NZ, Wellington Regional Stadium Trust, New Zealand Wine Growers, Aquaculture New Zealand, NZ Hops, the Young Enterprise Trust, and the Sir Peter Blake Trust. Rachel has received the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Award and is a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to food and hospitality. She is a KEA World Class New Zealander and in 2018 was named Māori Woman Business Leader at the prestigious University of Auckland Aotearoa Māori Business Leaders Awards.

The Warehouse Group Chair Joan Withers said she is delighted Rachel is joining The Warehouse Group Board.

“Rachel has unique commercial experience as CEO of a large operational locally-owned business. She also has strong, valuable credentials leading Business Councils and Non-Executive Directorships in the retail industry.

“Rachel’s broad ranging experience will add an important skillset to our Board and will complement the skills of existing members. The directors and CEO are looking forward to working with Rachel as we continue to drive the strategic plan for the Group forward.”

Ms Taulelei holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria, and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and a graduate of the Stanford University Executive Programme.

Ms Taulelei will attend her first Board meeting as a director on 24 February 2021 and, as required by the Company’s Constitution, will stand for election by shareholders at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting in November.
