Thales: David Azéma co-opted as a member of the board of directors, replacing Olivier Bourges
Neuilly-sur-Seine, 26 March 2013 – The board of directors of Thales (NYSE Euronext: HO), on the proposal of the Public Sector, co-opted Mr David Azéma as a member of the board of directors for the remaining duration of the mandate of Mr Olivier Bourges, i.e. until the end of the annual general meeting that will be called to approve the 2015 financial statements.
In addition, the board of directors appointed the following representatives on the board's committees, as representatives of the Public Sector, replacing Mr Olivier Bourges:
- Ms Jeanne-Marie Prost as a member of the Audit and Accounts Committee;
- Mr David Azéma as a member of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee and of the Strategic Committee.
Biography of Mr David Azéma
Born in 1960, Mr David Azema holds a Law Degree and is a graduate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (political sciences institute) and Ecole Nationale d'Administration. He started his career in 1987 at the government accounting office. From 1991 to 1993, he worked at the General Directorate of the National Police and then held several positions in the staff of Martine Aubry, Minister of Labour, Employment and Vocational Training.
In 1993, he joined SNCF, the French railway company, where he served in Strategy, as Advisor to the Chairman and as Director of Subsidiaries and Participations. In 1998, he moved to the UK to take up the position of Chairman of Intercontinental and Regional Rail, which won the tender for the management of Eurostar UK, and then became Chairman and CEO of Eurostar Group Ltd., a joint company of SNCF, SNCB Belgian Railways and Eurostar UK, in charge of managing the Eurostar high speed rail service.
In 2002, he joined Vinci as President of Vinci Concessions and became a member of Vinci Group executive committee in 2006.
Moving back to SNCF in June 2008, he became Executive Vice-President of Strategy and Finance and then Deputy Director General in 2011. In June 2012, while remaining a member of SNCF Group executive committee, he took up the position of Chief Executive Officer of

Keolis, a subsidiary of SNCF specialising in passenger public transport in France, Europe and worldwide.
On 1 September 2012, he was appointed Commissioner for State Participations (APE) at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
