Appointments at Thales

Alexandre de Juniac taking new responsibilities outside the Group and Bruno Rambaud leaving the Group, Jean-Georges Malcor is appointed Senior Vice President, Areas B (Continental Europe, Turkey, Russia, Central Asia) and C (Asia, Africa, Middle East, Latin America) with effect from today.

Pierre-Eric Pommellet, currently Head of the services and business transformation sector within the Aerospace Division, is appointed Senior Vice President, General Manager of the Aerospace Division replacing Jean-Georges Malcor. In addition to his current responsibilities of Senior Vice President, Solutions for Aircraft Sector, Michel Mathieu is appointed Deputy to the General Manager of the Aerospace Division.

Jean-Georges Malcor, 52, is a graduate of École Centrale de Paris. He also holds a Master of Sciences degree from Stanford University, and a PhD from École des Mines. He began his career at the Thales group in the Underwater Activities division (1983-1987). He then moved to the Sydneybased Thomson Sintra Pacific Australia, becoming MD of the company (1990), Director of Marketing and Communications (1991), before becoming Director, Foreign Operations of Thomson Sintra Activités Sous-Marines (1993). In 1996, he was appointed MD of Thomson Marconi Sonar Australia and then the first MD of joint venture ADI (1999). In 2002, he became SVP, International Operations of Thales International. From 2004 to 2009, he was SVP, in charge of the Naval Division. Since January 2009, he was SVP, in charge of the Aerospace Division.

Pierre-Eric Pommellet, 44, is a graduate of École Polytechnique, Sup Aero and holds a Masters of Science degree from the MIT. He began his career at the French defence procurement agency DGA as Armaments Engineer and subsequently becoming principal private secretary to Jean-Pierre Raffarin, France's Minister for SMEs, Trades and Craftspeople between 1995 and 1997. Pierre-Eric Pommellet then joined Thales. He was Technical Director of the "Navigation" Unit before being appointed in 2001 Director of Bordeaux factory, and then in 2004, Director of the "Aerospace Military Equipment" Business Line. Since 2008, he was Head of the services and business transformation sector within the Aerospace Division.

Michel Mathieu, 58, is a graduate of École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST), Paris. Michel Mathieu joined Thales in 1977 as a development engineer in the arena of Air Traffic Control. In 1997, Michel Mathieu was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Airsys ATM, the jointventure between Thales and Siemens. In 2003, he was appointed SVP, Thales's Air Defence Business Group. In 2005, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of ThalesRaytheonSystems Ltd. Since 2009, he is SVP, Solutions for Aircraft Sector, within the Aerospace Division.
