Tesoro Resources Limited (ASX: TSO) ( Tesoro or the Company ) is pleased to provide the following activities report that outlines progress achieved during the March 2021 Quarter.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Drilling continued to expand the scale and higher-grade zones at El Zorro Gold Project ( El Zorro ) with 47 holes completed for 15,562m.

  • Assay results were received for 35 holes, including initial drilling at the Toro Gordo and Drone Hill targets.

  • Tesoro’s 95% owned Chilean subsidiary has increased its ownership interest in El Zorro to 85%.

  • Share Purchase Plan closed oversubscribed on 8 January 2021, with valid applications received for ~$4.5 million, exceeding targeted $3 million.

  • Efficient and effective use of capital with approximately 87.50% of cash burn attributed to exploration and development costs.

  • Further reduction in drilling costs resulted in an average all in drilling cost for the quarter of US$132.40 per metre (≈A$171.35 per metre), inclusive of drilling, assay, geological support and all in country administration.

  • Tesoro is well-funded to rapidly progress El Zorro.

Overview

Tesoro holds interests in the highly prospective El Zorro Gold Project located within the Coastal Cordillera of Chile, andis favourably located demonstrating significant scale and gold grades.

Tesoro is focussed on delineating gold resources at El Zorro, where drilling continued during the quarter to further define the Ternera Gold Deposit and test the Toro Gordo and Drone Hill targets. During the quarter, 47 holes were completed for 15,562m and assay results were received for 35 holes.

Commenting on the quarter, Tesoro Managing Director Zeff Reeves said: “The March quarter has been a very productive one for Tesoro and our team at El Zorro. The work completed at Ternera is providing confidence that the deposit will continue to grow as we continue to advance the project toward a Maiden Resource Estimate. We are also pleased to have increased our ownership of the project to 85% and continue to demonstrate a prudent and efficient use of capital in delineating a gold resource at Ternera. We will continue to drill through the June 2021 quarter as well as rapidly progress scoping and permitting activities as we focus on developing the project as quickly as possible.”

Ternera Deposit

Drill results continue to expand gold mineralisation at Ternera. There have now been fourteen 100g/m intercepts that confirm the continuity, width and grade of gold mineralisation at the deposit. During the quarter drilling focussed on infill resource definition drilling and further delineating the new large gold zone along the east-north eastern flank of the deposit.

A full table of significant intercepts is presented in Appendix 1.

Toro Gordo returns gold grades up to 69.70 g/t Au

During the quarter, Tesoro provided shareholders with the first assay results from the Toro Gordo target at El Zorro.

Holes ZDDH00082, ZDDH00086, ZDDH00088 and ZDDH00091 are the first holes drilled into the Toro Gordo target with all returning positive gold assay results including exceptional grades of up to 69.70g/t Au from an extensive high-grade gold bearing vein system (see ASX announcement on 5 March 2021). Mineralisation appears to be better developed adjacent to the contact between the Toro Gordo Granodiorite and the El Zorro Tonalite ( EZT ), which hosts a majority of gold mineralisation at the Ternera deposit. Further assessment of the Toro Gordo target is required by additional drilling, surface mapping and sampling.

Drone Hill target returns positive gold results of 11.50m @1.13g/t Au

In late March, Tesoro announced positive first assay results from the Drone Hill target at El Zorro (see ASX announcement 23 March 2021).

Hole ZDDH00095 is the first hole drilled at Drone Hill, targeting gold mineralisation identified from surface mapping, sampling and geophysics.

Hole ZDDH00095 was drilled approximately 350m west-northwest of the Ternera Gold Deposit. This result provides significant exploration potential to the Drone Hill area where extensive outcropping EZT, the dominant gold host rock at Ternera, has been mapped.

The Quarter Ahead

Tesoro is focussed on advancing El Zorro as quickly as possible. Drilling is planned to continue at the Ternera deposit during the June 2021 quarter to further delineate potential gold resources. Initial drilling is also planned for the recently delineated Ternera East target, interpreted to be an eastward continuation of the Ternera deposit (see ASX announcement 13 April 2021).

Ongoing district exploration work will continue with surface mapping and sampling to be carried out over newly identified geophysical targets with the aim to delineate further drill targets at El Zorro. To date the prospective EZT host rocks and a gold bearing north south fault system has been identified over an area of 4.5km by 2.2km.

Scoping study activities will ramp up during the quarter which will include the commencement of a detailed metallurgical test work program to determine the optimal processing pathway for El Zorro.

Corporate

El Zorro increased ownership

On 24 March 2021, Tesoro advised that its 95% owned Chilean subsidiary, Tesoro Mining Chile SpA ( TMC ), has increased its ownership of El Zorro to 85%.

Tesoro previously advised on 1 March 2021 that the original Purchase Option Agreement had been terminated and the JV company, El Zorro S.C.M., would operate on a fully diluting basis going forward.

At a shareholders’ meeting of El Zorro S.C.M. held on the 11 February 2021, it was resolved that an additional capital contribution of approximately CLP$4.3 billion in total (approximately A$7.6 million)

be made to the El Zorro S.C.M. to support the approved workplan and budget. The minority shareholder in the JV company elected not to participate and TMC has now contributed the A$7.6 million to increase its ownership to 85%.

Share Purchase Plan Closes Oversubscribed

Tesoro closed the Share Purchase Plan ( SPP ) announced on 9 December 2020 oversubscribed on 8 January 2021. Under the SPP, each Eligible Shareholder was entitled to subscribe for up to $30,000 worth of new fully paid ordinary shares ( Shares ) at an issue price of $0.27 per Share, without incurring brokerage or other transaction costs.

The Company received valid applications for a total of 16,836,932 new Shares from Eligible Shareholders, totalling $4,546,000 and exceeding the targeted $3,000,000. The Company conducted a pro-rata scale back of applications received in excess of $3,000,000, in accordance with the terms of the SPP, with shareholders receiving approximately 66% of the amount for which they subscribed.

Use of Funds

The Company confirms that during the quarter ended 31 March 2021, it has used the funds raised pursuant to the Company’s Prospectus dated 30 October 2019 and Supplementary Prospectus’ dated 10 December 2019 and 29 January 2020 consistently with the “use of funds” statement in the Prospectus.
