Directorate and Board Committee Membership Change

Tesco PLC is pleased to announce that Melissa Bethell will be joining the Board as a non-executive Director and become a member of the Audit Committee with effect from 24 September 2018.  Melissa brings extensive executive and non-executive financial, technology and strategic experience to the Board.

John Allan, Chairman, commented:

"I am delighted to welcome Melissa to the Board as a non-executive Director.  Her broad range of skills and experience will be of significant benefit to the Board as we implement our strategy.  The Board and I very much look forward to working with her over the coming years."

Notes:

Melissa Bethell is a Partner at Atairos, an investment fund backed by Comcast NBC Universal, where she is the Managing Partner of Atairos Europe. 

Melissa is currently a director of Exor, a listed holding company for the Agnelli family, and chairs the Audit Committee.  She is also a director of Atento and chairs the Atento Remuneration Committee.  Melissa also held non-executive director positions at Samsonite and Worldpay. 

Melissa was previously a Managing Director of Bain Capital, the global private equity firm, for over 18 years and a member of the senior leadership team responsible for strategy setting, fundraising and portfolio management. She remains a senior advisor.  Prior to joining Bain Capital, Melissa worked in the Capital Markets group at Goldman, Sachs & Co., with a focus on media and technology.

Melissa received an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a BA with honors in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University.  Melissa was born in Taiwan, educated in America and is now a British national.
