NON-EXECUTIVE BOARD APPOINTMENT

Tesco PLC announces that Mark Armour will join the Board of Tesco today, 2 September 2013, as a Non-executive Director.  Mark was until 2012 Chief Financial Officer of Reed Elsevier PLC and Reed Elsevier NV.  He is a Non-executive Director of the Financial Reporting Council and a Non-executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of SABMiller plc. 

Mark will bring significant financial and international experience to the board, gained from his long career as a CFO for a major global business, and will join the Audit Committee. He also has considerable experience of digital business transition.

Mark Armour

Mark worked from 1995 to 2012 for Reed Elsevier, initially as Deputy CFO and from 1996 as CFO.  He played a key role in the transformation of Reed Elsevier from a broad-based traditional print publisher into a leading provider of online subscriptions and database products for professional business information and information solutions.  He also led a range of corporate transactions.

Before joining Reed Elsevier, Mark worked for many years at Price Waterhouse, as partner in its Audit and Business Advisory Services division from 1988 to 1995 and prior to that in senior manager and manager roles, including two years in Singapore.

Mark is a Trustee and a Member of the Audit Committee of Opera North.

Mark holds an MA (Hons) degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.  He is married and has three children and lives in London and North Yorkshire.
