New Director to join Telstra Board
Thursday, 16 February 2023 – Telstra Board Chairman, John Mullen, today announced the appointment of Maxine Brenner as a non-executive Director of the Telstra Board.
Ms Brenner is an experienced ASX top-20 director with 14 years of board experience in some of the country’s most high-profile companies. Her current Board roles include Woolworths, Qantas and Origin Energy.
She is a former Managing Director of Investment Banking at Investec Bank (Australia) Limited. She also practised as a corporate lawyer with Freehill Hollingdale & Page (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and spent several years as a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at both the University of NSW and the University of Sydney.
Mr Mullen said he was delighted to welcome to the Board a Director with a diverse background particularly focussed on the customer.
“Maxine brings deep experience in highly regulated, large, high-profile organisations that have a significant impact on the Australian community – whether it’s food, energy or transport. They are critical industries and there are many comparisons with telecommunications,” said Mr Mullen.
“These roles have also given her a great understanding of the importance of having a customer focus and in particular the changing nature of customer expectations.
“I am delighted that Maxine is joining our board and she will add significant depth with her experience. With her appointment our Board has over 40 percent female representation among non-executive Directors.”
Ms Brenner will join the Board effective tomorrow, Friday 17 February. She will stand for election at the Telstra Annual General Meeting in October this year.
