The “STRATO computer center” with KPNQwest GmbH, Karlsruhe, is of paramount importance for the eBusiness perspectives of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Germany: It is hosting about 1.5 millions of the total of 5.6 millions .de-Domains including, in particular, the WebSites of more than 300.000 German SMEs. On Friday evening, this computer center was purchased from the insolvent KPNQwest GmbH by the parent company of STRATO, by the TELES AG. The transaction is still subject to the usual committee approvals. The intention of this transaction and its legal foundations have been fully communicated to the publicity by the parties involved in it since some time, already. Most recently media reports have emerged, which contain untrue statements disturbing the transaction resp. questioning its legal foundation – obviously aiming at impacting the market integrity of STRATO and TELES. We are taking legal measures against these attacks. After this acquisition of the STRATO computer center – originally it should have taken place last year, already – the TELES group now may continue, again, to tightly adapt its product and service offerings to the evolving needs of the market segment “SME eBusiness” and to launch, short term, ground paving innovations for it.
