The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Vienna, April 9, 2002 – Telekom Austria (VSE: TKA; NYSE: TKA) announced today its results for the Financial Year 2001: – Total managed revenues of Telekom Austria Group (including Mobilkom Austria) increased by 1.2% to EUR 3,943.5million (2000: EUR 3,897.2million). Total managed group EBITDA, excluding idle workforce costs, rose by 38.8% to EUR 1,472.8million (2000: EUR 1,060.9million). – In the fixed line segment, revenues declined by 7.5 % to EUR 2,456.7million (2000: 2,654.8million). EBITDA, excluding idle workforce costs, rose by 51.9 % to EUR 869.0 million (2000: EUR 572.2 million). – In mobile communications, revenues rose by 14.1 % to EUR 1,713.2million (2000: EUR 1,501.0million). EBITDA rose by 30.9% to EUR 571.3million (2000: EUR 436.5million). – In data communications, revenues increased by 5.5 % to EUR 330.2million (2000: EUR 312.8million). EBITDA amounted to EUR 54.7 million (2000: EUR 57.4million). – Revenues in the Internet segment reached EUR 99.5m (2000: EUR 61.1million) and EBITDA amounted to EUR -20.1million (2000: EUR -5.4million). EBITDA is defined as operating income excluding costs for idle workforce and depreciation and amortization charges. The consolidated figures of Telekom Austria AG, which include Mobilkom Austria at equity show in the financial year 2001 revenues of EUR 2,659.7million, which represents a decrease of 5.5 % compared to the same period of 2000 (2000: EUR 2,814.4million). Operating loss improved to EUR -195.4million in the year 2001 (2000: EUR -299.2million).
