The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Vienna, May 28, 2002 – Telekom Austria (VSE: TKA; NYSE: TKA) announced today its financial results for the first quarter 2002: Total managed revenues of Telekom Austria Group (including Mobilkom Austria) increased by 1.9% to EUR 962.5million (1Q 2001: EUR 944.1million). Total managed group EBITDA rose by 10.3% to EUR 413.9million (1Q 2001: EUR 375.2million). EBITDA is defined as operating income excluding depreciation, amortization and costs for idle workforce. In the fixed line segment revenues declined by 9.7 % to EUR 512.6million (1Q 2001: EUR 567.7million). EBITDA rose by 0.5 % to EUR 211.2million (1Q 2001: EUR 210.2 million). In mobile communications, revenues rose by 9.7 % to EUR 452.2million (1Q 2001: EUR 412.2million). EBITDA rose by 18.1% to EUR 188.2million (1Q 2001: EUR 159.3 million). In data communications revenues increased by 5.0 % to EUR 77.3million (1Q 2001: EUR 73.6million). EBITDA rose by EUR 103.8% to 16.1million (1Q 2001: EUR 7.9 million). Revenues in the Internet segment reached EUR 28.5million (1Q 2001: EUR 18.5 million) and EBITDA amounted to EUR (1.6)million (1Q 2001: EUR (2.2)million). The consolidated figures of Telekom Austria AG, which include Mobilkom Austria at equity show in the first quarter of the year 2002 revenues of EUR 565.9million, which represents a decrease of 5.0 % compared to the same period of 2001 (1Q 2001: EUR 595.7million). Operating income rose from EUR (9.5)million in the first quarter of the year 2001 to EUR 9.1million. Net income rose to EUR 37.5million (1Q 2001: EUR 10.3million).
