The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Vienna, August 27, 2002 – Telekom Austria (VSE: TKA; NYSE: TKA) today announced the financial results for the first half 2002: Total managed revenues of Telekom Austria Group (including Mobilkom Austria) increased by 0.2% to EUR 1,897.8million (1HY 2001: EUR 1,893.7million). Total managed group EBITDA rose by 12.5% to EUR 794.5million (1HY 2001: EUR 706.1million). In 2Q 2002 total managed revenues of Telekom Austria Group (including Mobilkom Austria) decreased by 1.5% to EUR 935.3million (2Q 2001: EUR 949.6million). In 2Q 2002 total managed group EBITDA rose by 15.0% to EUR 380.6million (2Q 2001: EUR 330.9million). EBITDA is defined as operating income excluding depreciation, amortization and costs for idle workforce. In the fixed line segment revenues declined by 9.2 % to EUR 1,007.0million (1HY 2001: EUR 1,109.0million). EBITDA rose by 0.3% to EUR 419.8million (1HY 2001: EUR 418.7 million). In mobile communications, revenues rose by 10.2 % to EUR 906.9million (1HY 2001: EUR 823.3million). EBITDA rose by 21.0% to EUR 351.4million (1HY 2001: EUR 290.3 million). In data communications revenues increased by 4.2 % to EUR 157.8million (1HY 2001: EUR 151.5million). EBITDA rose by EUR 147.3% to 27.7million (1HY 2001: EUR 11.2 million). Revenues in the Internet segment reached EUR 56.3million (1HY 2001: EUR 39.2 million) and EBITDA amounted to EUR (4.0)million (1HY 2001: EUR (14.1)million). The consolidated statement of operations of Telekom Austria AG, which includes Mobilkom Austria at-equity, shows revenues of EUR 1,107.7million in the first half of the year 2002, which represents a decrease of 7.2 % compared to the same period of 2001 (1HY 2001: EUR 1,194.2million). Operating income rose from EUR (55.2)million in the first half of the year 2001 to EUR 6.3million.
