Headline Figures for the First Nine Months 2001 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Vienna, November 21, 2001 – Telekom Austria (VSE: TKA; NYSE: TKA) announced today headline figures for its financial results for the first nine months 2001: – Total managed revenue figures of Telekom Austria Group (including Mobilkom Austria) registered an increase by 1.1% to EUR 2,950.5 million (1-9 M 2000: EUR 2,918.5 million). Total managed EBITDA rose by 37.4% to EUR 1,163.6 million (1-9 M 2000: EUR 847.1 million). – The consolidated revenues of Telekom Austria AG which include Mobilkom Austria at equity decreased by 5.5% to EUR 2,001.0 million in the first nine months of the business year 2001 (1-9 M 2000: EUR 2,117.2 million). EBITDA increased by 39.0% to EUR 703.0 million (1-9 M 2000: EUR 505.6 million). – Mobilkom Austria reported an increase in consolidated revenues by 13.9% to EUR 1,271.8 million (1-9M 2000: EUR 1,116.6 million). EBITDA rose by 34.9% to EUR 460.6 million (1-9 M 2000: EUR 341.5 million). EBITDA is defined as operating income excluding depreciation, amortization and costs for idle workforce. Costs for idle workforce include expenses for employees who have been released or transferred from the work force as well as cash settlements for civil servants who have agreed to leave with severance packages. In the first nine months 2001 the costs for idle workforce amounted to EUR 36.8 million. In the same period of the previous year they totalled EUR 0.3 million.
