"TEIXEIRA DUARTE, S.A." informs that its 100% owned company "Teixeira Duarte - Engenharia e Construções, S.A." has on this date signed a "Strategic Partnership Agreement for the Port Operation and Management of the Specialist Container Terminal at La Guaira Port" in Venezuela, with the State company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela "BOLIVARIANA DE PUERTOS (BOLIPEURTOS), S.A.". The aim of this agreement is to optimise the development and growth of the Terminal's activity, converting it into a transfer port for the Caribbean sea and Latin America. Under the terms of the aforementioned partnership, Teixeira Duarte will contribute, according to the Business Plan, a total of 40 million American dollars and will assume responsibility, over a 20 year period, for the commercialisation, conservation, operation, administration, construction and usage of the aforementioned Terminal.
The Specialist Container Terminal at La Guaira Port, with capacity for moving 1,000,000 TEUS/year and an area of 17ha, has 693m of berthing docks, with depths of -15.2m. It is equipped with the latest generation of port operations equipment - 6 dock gantry cranes, 15 patio gantry cranes, 2 reach-stackers and 6 fork lift trucks.
This Agreement has been reached in consideration of the fact that a Supplementary Agreement to the Framework Cooperation Agreement between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Portugal was signed on 6 August 2008, on the subject of economic and energy cooperation, promotion, creation and/or execution of projects aimed at the exchange of goods, services, technology and training of joint interest to the signatory countries.
