From the bottom of my heart, thank you for joining me today during our Companywide Town Hall where I had the special privilege of sharing news that marks one of the most significant moments in our company’s history— Taylor Morrison has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Berkshire Hathaway.
I hope simply reading the name Berkshire Hathaway sends a beam of pride throughout this entire organization. Regarded as one of the largest investors and most admired and respected companies in the world, a company synonymous with icon Warren Buffett himself, Berkshire could have sought to acquire any homebuilder they wanted to complement their existing housing platform, but they chose us.
They chose Taylor Morrison because of our reputation as America’s Most Trusted Home Builder, our Love the Customer mandate and because of this team. They believe, as I do, that we can help create something within their ecosystem that no other homebuilder could.
This is a transformational moment: for our scale, our brand, our financial strength and our collective future. This moment belongs to every single one of you. What Berkshire saw when they looked at Taylor Morrison was the company you built.
We are no strangers to M&A at Taylor Morrison. You have my firm commitment that we will draw upon our institutional muscle and lessons learned to equip our teams as we step boldly into a new era—one where we gain significant scale and responsible access to capital, backed by Berkshire Hathaway.
The deal is expected to close in the back half of the year, subject to the closing conditions including applicable regulatory approvals.
