TCS Signs Landmark MoU with C-DAC to Strengthen India’s Sovereign Cloud Infrastructure

The collaboration with C-DAC will focus on research to develop indigenous technologies that strengthen India’s sovereign cloud foundation

DELHI | MUMBAI, INDIA, SEPTEMBER 12, 2025: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to accelerate the development of India’s sovereign cloud ecosystem. As India doubles down on self-reliant and secure digital infrastructure, this collaboration aims to deliver scalable, and AI-enabled cloud platforms that align with India’s data localization mandates and support the digital transformation of critical public sector services.

The collaboration with C-DAC, India’s premier R&D institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), will develop and integrate indigenous innovations into TCS’ sovereign cloud stack. This move will support the secure and compliant hosting of critical government applications including e-Sanjeevani, Dial 112, and workloads from central ministries. The partnership not only ensures adherence to stringent data protection standards but also enables faster enterprise adoption by enhancing security, compliance, and performance across key sectors such as healthcare, defence, smart cities, and BFSI.

Magesh Ethirajan, Director General - CDAC, said, “We are proud to join hands with TCS in a collaborative research partnership focused on developing and delivering next-generation technologies for sovereign cloud, aligned with the nation’s strategic and digital priorities. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance. By bringing together C-DAC’s expertise in indigenous innovation with TCS’ deep industry presence and execution strength, we aim to accelerate the development, deployment, and long-term sustainability of sovereign cloud platforms.”

This collaboration reflects a broader strategic intent, which aims to reduce reliance on global hyperscalers by building a robust, future-ready sovereign cloud ecosystem driven by OpenStack and indigenous technologies. Through joint efforts and public sector outreach, TCS and C-DAC aim to position sovereign cloud platforms as the default choice for India’s digital transformation journey.

Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, TCS , said, "This MoU is a significant step forward in realizing India’s sovereign cloud ambitions. By collaborating with C-DAC, we are combining indigenous R&D, public sector infrastructure, and TCS’ enterprise expertise to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready cloud platforms tailored to the needs of a digitally empowered India."

For nearly six decades, TCS has played a pivotal role in driving India’s tech revolution, executing several nation-building programs, creating digital public infrastructure, transforming citizen services, and touching millions of lives. TCS works with several government ministries as a trusted partner. Nearly 7 out of 10 Indians benefit from TCS-supported services every day. From digitally enabling India’s leading stock exchanges, working with major financial institutions, to enhancing passport issuance systems, health insurance, pensions for defence personnel, and more, TCS delivers high-touch citizen-centric services to the last mile.
