TASMAN ACCELERATES S.A. GOLD EXPLORATION

Exploration is to be accelerated over the next two months on a gold project near Port Augusta in South Australia after Tasman Resources NL announced encouraging results from initial field work.

The accelerated exploration on the epithermal Parkinson Dam (previously Wartaka) gold-silver prospect within the Gawler Craton will include:

  • $\bullet$ A 2,000-3,000 metre shallow reverse circulation drilling program, scheduled to commence in December
  • A calcrete and partial leach geochemical survey over the principal area of interest (about six square km) in the next few weeks to significantly expand the previous limited geochemical coverage of the target area, 60 kilometres west of Port Augusta, and
  • A gradient array electrical survey (induced polarisation and resistivity) over three areas, totalling approximately three square kilometres.

"We received highly encouraging results from a detailed geochemical orientation survey, geological mapping and surface rock chip sampling over a wide area of Parkinson Dam," Tasman Resources' Executive Chairman, Mr Greg Solomon, said today.

"As a result, exploration on this gold-silver prospect is being accelerated," Mr Solomon said.

"The fieldwork data is so useful we have already laid the drilling program out and secured preliminary arrangements for a suitable drill rig.

"The outcome of the electrical survey also will be an important guide to future work as such surveys have been particularly useful in locating gold mineralisation in other epithermal systems, for example, Pajingo in Queensland," he said.

The new gold program is in parallel to progress by Tasman Resources on two other uranium and copper, gold, uranium projects in South Australia.

Wynbring Uranium Prospect

The Perth-based explorer announced today that a helicopter-based electromagnetic (HoistEM) survey will commence within the next fortnight over its Wynbring uranium prospect, 75 kilometres northwest of Tarcoola.

"The survey is designed to locate and define extensions to, and tributaries from the Tertiary Wynbring palaeochannel in the central Gawler Craton," Mr Solomon said.

"Uranium mineralisation was intersected in previous uranium exploration drilling in the 1980s within the Wynbring palaeochannel at the southern margin of our tenement," he said.

"However, this palaeochannel is effectively untested upstream for approximately 10 kilometres within the Tasman tenement – and there is also potential to locate other, untested tributaries of the palaeochannel, particularly on its east margin."

If successfully defined, Tasman plans in early to mid 2006 to test drill the palaeochannel or channels with shallow 50-80 metre deep holes.

Marthon South Copper - Gold - Uranium Prospect

Mr Solomon said drilling at this base metals and gold prospect, near Olympic Dam, had been considerably slower than anticipated, with only one drill crew available.

"The first of the four-hole program has been completed and the second hole is well advanced." Mr Solomon said.

"We will release results as soon as they are available."
