TALISMAN STRENGTHENS MANAGEMENT TEAM WITH KEY APPOINTMENTS

FORMER JUBILEE MINES EXECUTIVES JOIN THE TALISMAN TEAM

Talisman Mining Limited (ASX: TLM – “Talisman”), is pleased to announce that it has secured the services of two highly experienced mining executives and former members of the outstandingly successful Jubilee Mines NL executive team to the Company, further significantly strengthening its senior management capabilities and depth of experience.

Peter Langworthy and Brian Dawes , who respectively held the key roles of Executive General Manager – Exploration, and Executive General Manager – Operations and Projects with Jubilee Mines, have both been contracted to the Company as consultants and advisors.

In this capacity, Mr Langworthy will provide his considerable expertise in exploration, geology and project assessment while Mr Dawes will contribute his extensive expertise in project assessment, feasibility studies, development and operations.

They will support Talisman’s recently appointed Managing Director, Mr Gary Lethridge, who commenced his new role with the Company earlier this month. Mr Lethridge was previously Jubilee’s Executive General Manager – Corporate and, together with Mr Langworthy and Mr Dawes formed the senior executive management team at Jubilee reporting to the Executive Chairman.

Mr Langworthy has over 22 years experience in the exploration and mining industry, including senior technical and management roles with a number of listed companies, most recently with Jubilee Mines and Xstrata Nickel Australasia. At Jubilee, he led the team that discovered the Alec Mairs, Prospero/Tapinos and Sinclair deposits which resulted in a major increase in the Company’s resource base and provided the platform for a major uplift in the Company’s value.

Mr Dawes has extensive experience in project development and operational roles within the mining industry across Australia and overseas, including Africa and the Middle East. Prior to his role at Jubilee, he was General Manager Operations with ASX-listed nickel producer Western Areas NL, where he was responsible for the establishment of the Forrestania Nickel Project and Flying Fox Nickel Mine development. Prior to that he was the Group Mining Engineer with LionOre Australia, part of the LionOre Mining International group.

Talisman’s Managing Director Mr Gary Lethridge said he was delighted to have secured the involvement of Peter and Brian with the Company. “They are outstanding individuals with enormous experience, capability and enthusiasm,” he said.

“Having worked closely with them previously at Jubilee, I know they will make a significant contribution to Talisman, adding considerable depth to our management resources and giving us the ability to accelerate the assessment of our existing portfolio of iron ore, manganese, gold and base metal assets while at the same time significantly enhancing our in-house capability to identify, assess and review new project opportunities.”

Talisman is currently completing a Scoping Study on the Wonmunna Iron Ore Project in the Pilbara in order to assess the best strategic options to progress and realise value from this asset.
