Appointment of Brendan Connolly as an Independent Non-executive Director

Synthomer plc ("Synthomer" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that Brendan Connolly will join the Board as an Independent Non-executive Director with effect from 20 January 2014.

Brendan was, until June 2013, a senior executive at Intertek Group PLC and had previously been Chief Executive Officer of Moody International (which was acquired by Intertek in 2011).  Prior to Intertek, Brendan spent more than 25 years of his career with Schlumberger in senior international roles over three continents.

Brendan holds non-executive directorships at Sparrows Offshore Group Ltd and Cape plc and also chairs the Remuneration Committee at the latter.

Commenting on the appointment, Neil Johnson, Chairman, said:

"I am delighted to welcome Brendan to the Board and we look forward to benefitting from both his international business and board room experience."

There are no details to be notified under Listing Rule 9.6.13 in relation to Mr Connolly's appointment.
