The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Süss MicroTec AG: – Record results in the first quarter – Turnover increase of 134% compared to same period last year – Best first quarter ever Munich, 22nd May 2001 – Süss MicroTec AG reports impressive turnover growth in the first quarter 2001 compared to the same period last year. Group net sales are up by 134% from 22.3mio. Euro to 52.1mio. Euro. Earnings before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortication (EBITDA) rose from 1,0mio. Euro to 10,1mio. Euro (+ 928%). EBITDA Margin also rose in the first quarter to 19,3% compared to 4,4% in the first quarter of last year. As opposed to negative Earnings After Tax (EAT) of -0,7mio. Euro in the first quarter 2000, a positive result of 3.5mio. Euro was achieved in the first quarter 2001. Earnings per Share of -0,06 Euro in the first quarter 2000 rose accordingly to 0,26 Euro in the same period of this year. Order entry amounted to 55,6mio. Euro net (44,0mio. Euro the year before), which is an increase of 27% compared to the first quarter 2000. Based on a Book-to- Bill Ratio of 1.07, Order Backlog as of 31.03.2001 increased to 119,8mio. Euro. This significant growth – even under difficult market conditions – endorses the strategy of Süss MicroTec AG’s management. The results clearly show that Süss’ products (production and test equipment for the microelectronics and semiconductor industries) are required by the chip manufacturers for the technology transfer coming in the next few years.
