BOARD CHANGES

Avalon Minerals Limited ( Avalon ) has today appointed six new Directors of the company with effect from the Board Meeting of Friday 10 February 2012.

The Board appointments include Executive Director Mr Jeremy Read and Non Executive Directors Mr Paul Niardone, Mr Siew Mun Wai, Mr Rohan Edmondson, Mr Seng Han Garry Goh and Mr Siew Mun Chuang.

The appointments bring outstanding local and international mining and corporate management skills to the company. The appointments will also enhance the Boards corporate governance, supervisory and risk management expertise. Profiles of the new Directors are given below:

• Mr Jeremy Read is a geologist with 23 years experience in exploration and project development in Australia, Africa, India and Indonesia. He is skilled in the management of technical teams, capital raisings and company IPO’s and after a substantial career with BHP was the founding Managing Director of Discovery Metals and then Meridian Minerals.

• Mr Paul Niardone is the Executive Director and founder of Professional Public Relations (WA), the largest PR and communications firm in Western Australia. He was the founding Chairman of Bellevue Resources Limited and has experience in marketing and strategic planning in both the Government and private sectors. He is a member of the Australian Marketing Institute, the Institute of Management Consultants and the Institute of Company Directors.

• Mr Siew Mun Wai (Edward) is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and also a chartered member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He currently sits on the boards of a number of major international company's subsidiaries in Australia and New Zealand both as a director and chief financial officer and has over 35 years of overseas working experiences in senior management capacities spanning 9 countries

• Mr Rohan Edmondson has extensive market experience during his career in stockbroking in Perth where he has established advisory relationships with domestic and international resource companies. Rohan worked with the ANZ Banking group for 7 years before gaining international experience with Bankers Trust London and Bank of Ireland. He has an existing relationship with Avalon Minerals for the past 4 capital raisings.

Mr Seng Han Gary Goh is a seasoned mining engineer with over 17 years of mining experience and is currently working as the Underground Manager at Chalice Gold Mine for Alacer Gold. Mr Goh has worked in management roles for Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton, Barrick Gold and Western Metals. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and he holds a First Class Mine Managers (WA) certificate.

Mr Siew Mun Chuang (Phillip) is the Company’s second largest shareholder with considerable corporate experience both in Malaysia and Australia.

The Board believes the appointments now place a diverse range of experience, judgement and corporate contacts at the disposal of the Company and delivers enhanced stability to the Company.
