AVALON APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

MR AMRO AL-KHADRA JOINS AVALON’S BOARD

Avalon Minerals Ltd (“Avalon” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of experienced international businessman, Mr Amro Al-Khadra , to the position of Non-Executive Director, effective immediately.

Mr Al-Khadra fills the position vacated by Mr Gary Steinepreis, who has tendered his resignation from the Board due to other business commitments.

Mr Al-Khadra currently holds the position of Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the leading Malaysian-based construction and property development Group, Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd (“Maju”) – a position he has held since October 2009.

Mr Al-Khadra has been with Maju since January 2008, when he was employed as Director of Business Development and International Markets.

Mr Al-Khadra is also a director of Perwaja Holdings Berhad, Kinsteel Bhd and Ipmuda Berhad, and sits on the Boards of various other private limited companies in Malaysia.

Commenting on the appointment, Avalon’s Chairman, Mr David McSweeney said: “Mr Al-Khadra has a strong track record in Malaysia and his expertise in both the construction and steel industries will be invaluable to Avalon as we execute our growth plans and develop the Viscaria Iron-Copper Project in Sweden.”

Mr McSweeney also thanked Mr Steinepreis for his service to the Company since its inception.

“Gary has been an integral board member over the past four years and has made a significant contribution to the growth of Avalon in that time. The Board wishes to express its appreciation for his substantial contribution to the Company and would like to wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
