AVALON PROMOTES SENIOR EXECUTIVE ANDREW MUNCKTON TO MANAGING DIRECTOR

Avalon Minerals Ltd (“Avalon” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Andrew Munckton to the position of Managing Director. Mr Munckton is currently the CEO and General Manager of Operations for the Company.

Mr Munckton joined Avalon in February this year and has played a key role in leading the resource drill-out of the ‘D’ Zone and the expanded PreFeasibility Studies at the Company’s flagship Viscaria Copper-Iron Project in northern Sweden.

David McSweeney, who will continue as Avalon’s Executive Chairman, said Mr Munckton was a highly experienced and accomplished Australian mining executive with over 25 years experience in the sector.

He was most recently General Manager of Operations with leading Australian iron ore company Gindalbie Metals Limited, where he led the team that discovered, defined and commenced development of the worldscale Karara Iron Ore Project.

Prior to that, Mr Munckton was at various stages the General Manager of the Paddington, Kundana and Kanowna Belle Gold Operations for Goldfields Ltd, Auriongold and Placer Dome.

“I worked alongside Andrew during an exciting period at Gindalbie as it transitioned from a Western Australian gold producer to one of the ASX’s largest iron ore development companies, ”Mr McSweeney said. “I am looking forward once again to the challenge of building a minerals development company with Andrew.

“His appointment as Managing Director coincides with the commencement of what will be a transformational period for Avalon as we complete Feasibility Studies at the Viscaria Project and ultimately aim to become a producer of copper and iron ore concentrates.”
