NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTED

Suncorp Group Limited (Suncorp) today announced the appointment of Ms Audette Exel as nonexecutive director.

Chairman Dr Ziggy Switkowski said Ms Exel brought a broad range of insurance, banking and other experiences to the Suncorp Board.

“Ms Exel’s appointment further strengthens the Board’s insurance and banking expertise and her experience across various markets will be invaluable as the Group responds to the opportunities and challenges posed by the global economy,” Dr Switkowski said.

“On behalf of the Board, I welcome Ms Exel and look forward to her contributing towards Suncorp’s continued strategic progress.”

Ms Exel is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association Trustee (Bermuda) Limited, one of the world’s largest protection and indemnity clubs for the shipping industry.

She is a founder of the ISIS Group and Chief Executive Officer of its Australian company, ISIS (Asia Pacific) Pty Limited. The ISIS Group was established 14 years ago and consists of a boutique financial services firm and a non-profit foundation, which provides services to people in poverty in the developing world.

From 1993 to 1996, Ms Exel was Managing Director of Bermuda Commercial Bank. During that time, she was also Chairman of the Bermuda Stock Exchange and on the Board of Bermuda’s central financial services regulator from 1999 to 2005.

Prior to joining Bermuda Commercial Bank, Ms Exel practised as a lawyer specialising in international finance.

She began her career with Allen, Allen and Hemsley in Sydney before joining the Hong Kong office of Linklaters & Paines. Ms Exel is called to the Bars of New South Wales, Australia, England and Wales and Bermuda, and is resident in Sydney.
