Mannheim, December 22, 2011

Südzucker AG Mannheim/Ochsenfurt, Mannheim, raised group revenues within
the first nine months (1 March 2011 to 30 November 2011) of current
financial year 2011/12 by around 12 percent from EUR 4,667 million to EUR
5,244 million. Group operating profit increased by around EUR 170 million
or 41 percent to EUR 586 (previous year: 416) million. This earnings
improvement is mainly driven by the sugar segment.

For financial year 2011/12 Südzucker still projects an increase of group
revenues to around EUR 6.8 (previous year: 6.2) billion and an increase of
group operating profit to around EUR 750 (previous year: 519) million.

The full interim report for the first nine months 2011/12 will be published
on 12 January 2012.

The Südzucker Group

Südzucker, with its sugar, special products, CropEnergies and fruit
segments, is one of the leading companies in the food industry. In the
traditional sugar business, the group is the world market leader, with 29
sugar factories and three refineries, extending from France in the west via
Belgium, Germany and Austria, through to Poland, the Czech Republic,
Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Bosnia and Moldova in the east. The special
