Stora Enso Oyj was informed on 9 May 2012 that after a return of shares lent
out by Norges Bank, the number of shares in the Company held by Norges Bank
(The Central Bank of Norway) has exceeded 5% of the paid-up share capital and
the number of shares in Stora Enso Oyj on 8 May 2012.

With reference to Chapter 2, paragraph 10 of the Finnish Securities Markets
Act, Stora Enso Oyj is reporting that as of 8 May 2012 the shareholding of
Norges Bank is as follows:

The holding of Norges Bank has been calculated according to the share capital
registered on 8 May 2012.
