COMPLETION OF ACQUISITION

On 28 June 2004, Standard Chartered PLC announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Standard Chartered Links (HK) Limited, had signed an agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of Advantage Limited, the holding company of PrimeCredit Limited and PrimeCredit (Asia) Limited, whose principal business is the provision of sub-prime credit in Hong Kong.

The Directors are pleased to confirm that the above acquisition was completed on 27 August 2004.
