STADA: Sale of US business executed as per contract from July 13, 2006

The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. —————————————————————————— STADA Arzneimittel AG and DAVA Pharmaceuticals Inc., New Jersey, USA have yesterday, on August 21, 2006, executed the contract which was concluded on July 13, 2006 for the sale of all shares of the wholly-owned subsidiary STADA Inc., Cranbury, New Jersey, USA to DAVA (see ad hoc release of July 13, 2006 from STADA Arzneimittel AG, published via DGAP). With this sale, STADA achieves the announced complete withdrawal of the Group’s existing US business which, with sales of EUR 13.4 million in the first half of 2006 contributed only 2.3% of Group sales. Currently, STADA continues to expect, depending on the final financial statements which have yet to be prepared, a selling loss from the deconsolidation of the US business of approx. EUR 10 million before taxes or approx. EUR 5 million after taxes. The sale of STADA’s US business was carried out against the backdrop of limited operative possibilities in the existing business structures and concurrently high price and margin pressures in the US generics market. STADA will, however, continue to check whether, in the mid term, other profitable opportunities for a successful US business of its own will arise.
