STADA acquires branded products from redinomedica Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– STADA Arzneimittel AG today acquired six branded products from redinomedica AG, Bielefeld, Germany. The acquired branded products achieved total sales of EUR 6.0 million in the 12 months from July 2002 to June 2003 (+29% compared to the prior 12 months). The best-selling product of these is Curazink (total sales in the 12 months from July 2002 to June 2003: EUR 4.0 million, +23% compared to the prior 12 months), a zinc product strengthening the human immune system that is primarily used to prevent colds. All acquired branded products focus on the self-medication sector and are exclusively available from pharmacies, so that the planned cost reductions in the German public healthcare system will probably be without material effect on these drugs. As part of the transaction, STADA will assume not only the trademarks, approvals, and inventory of the branded products, but also certain trademarks currently not in use and the brand name, redinomedica. The purchase price is EUR 15 million plus inventory costs. The acquisition of the six branded products is intended to strengthen STADAs own business segment of branded products, which achieved total sales of EUR 73.1 million in Germany in 2002 (11.5% of total group sales of EUR 633.5 million in 2002). The newly acquired brands, which so far have been marketed by an external sales force, will be integrated immediately into STADAs own sales activities and offered to pharmacies by STADAs own sales force.
