The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– STADA signs letter of intent regarding the acquisition of the Marketing and Sales Operations of the Italian pharmaceutical company Crinos STADA Arzneimittel AG today signed a letter of intent with the current Private Owners with regard to the acquisition of the Marketing and Sales Operations of the Italian pharmaceutical company Crinos Spa.. Once the contract of sale has been completed, STADA will take over the mar-keting and sales operations, drug approvals as well as all trademarks. The acquired sales volume is appr. 22 million euro. Research and development, all patents rights as well as production will continue with the current ownership. Under the agreement, STADA secured the option to assure the future supply of Crinos products from the current Owners on a manufacturing contract basis. Crinos sells 23 branded pharmaceutical products in Italy for various types of Indications. Two of the products have patent protection for several years, including up to 2007 for Crinos largest product Proclitide trademark (Active ingredient: Defibrotide) an antithrombotic and vasoprotective product with sales of over 7.5 million euro. Crinos will continue to operate independently of STADAs Italian subsidiary EG Spa. and will promote its branded products directly to physicians via its own national sales force. With the acquisition of Crinos, STADA will be strengthening its second largest corporate segment after generics, the margin-attractive branded products and thereby furthering its profit-oriented growth strategy. By selectively assuming the marketing and sales operations, expanding production and research cap-acity can be avoided. The MDAX-listed company STADA Arzneimittel AG anticipates record sales in 2001 of well in excess of 500 million euro, since sales of 511.3 million euro (= DM 1 billion) had already been achieved by the beginning of December. The final results for 2001 will be made public on 22 April 2002.
