Simberi production resumed as illegal industrial action resolved
St Barbara Limited (ASX:SBM) advises that normal production at its Simberi Operations in PNG has resumed following resolution of an illegal work stoppage initiated by a contingent of the workforce.
Further to the announcement dated 12 March 2018 regarding the stoppage, mediation led by representatives from the PNG Department of Labour and Industrial Relations has resolved the stoppage. The stoppage was primarily due to misunderstandings regarding leave provisions and other employment conditions, which have now been clarified.
Full operations resumed late yesterday, Wednesday 14 March 2018.
The mine has produced 93,000 ounces of gold this financial year to date, and it is expected that the mine will achieve full year production guidance of between 115,000 and 125,000 ounces of gold.
