INTERIM DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2014

SCRIP ALTERNATIVE

SSE plc announces that a total of 30,116 shareholders have elected to receive the interim dividend for the year ended 31 March 2014 of 26.0 pence per ordinary share in respect of 432,108,814 ordinary shares in the form of Scrip dividend.  This will result in a reduction in interim dividend cash funding of £112,348,292.   

A total of 8,551,629 new ordinary shares, fully paid, will be issued on 21 March 2014, representing an increase of 0.88% on the issued share capital on dividend record date of 24 January 2014.  The relevant Scrip Reference Share Price was 1,314 pence per ordinary share.
