NEW LEADERSHIP FOR NETWORKS

The leadership of SSE's electricity networks businesses is being reshaped as they prepare for the new electricity distribution price control and the next phase of the programme of large capital investment in electricity transmission.

Colin Nicol, who joined SSE in 2010 and who was previously its Lead Director of Generation Development, has been appointed Managing Director, Distribution.  He will be responsible for leading SSE's electricity distribution businesses, be a member of the Executive Committee and a PDMR, and report to Chief Executive Alistair Phillips-Davies.  David Gardner's responsibilities as Director of Transmission are unchanged but he too will now report to Alistair Phillips-Davies.  Mark Mathieson, who joined SSE in 1988 and was first appointed Director of Distribution in 2005, is leaving SSE.

Alistair Phillips-Davies, Chief Executive of SSE, said:

"I would like to thank Mark for everything he has done for SSE, especially during the last two price control periods.  It's vital that businesses get the level of senior management input that they need, and the scale and complexity of the different challenges in Distribution and Transmission mean that this is the right time to reshape the leadership team so there is the right focus on what they need to achieve over the next few years.  We are continuing to review Ofgem's Final Determinations for the new electricity distribution price control, but believe that this reshaped leadership team will help achieve the operational and financial performance that customers and investors are looking to us to achieve over the next eight years."
